樹德科技大學由張佩玉、嚴超、李福芃三位睿智長者創辦,迭經22位熱心教育賢士贊助,旋於民國83年9月成立籌備處,特聘請朱元祥博士任籌備主任,爰於民國86年奉准設校招生,並復於民國89年8月1日起奉教育部核准正式改名為樹德科技大學。

本校秉持著「學術、知性、快樂、希望」的校訓,以多元、整合、開放的經營理念,營造自主發展的學習環境,建立互重自律的校園生活;藉以培養兼具人文與科技、組織領導與問題解決能力的專業人才,落實現代大學理論與實務之平衡發展。

In September, 1994, Shu-te University (STU) established its preparatory office by three founders (Pei-Yu Chang, Chao Yein & Fu-Peng Lee) and 22 other enthusiastic educators. Dr. Yuan Hsiang Chu was appointed as the preparatory director. In 1997, the school was officially accredited for enrollment. On August 1st, 2000, the institution was renamed Shu-te University after obtaining accreditation from the Ministry of Education, the first technology in the southern region of Taiwan.

Its institutional motto is “Academic, Intellectual, Happy, Hopeful.” It aims at building a self-developed learning environment with a multi-disciplinary, integrated, and open philosophy of management as well as a self-disciplined campus life. It fosters both humanity and technology, cultivating professionals with problem-solving and leading skills, and implementing a balanced development of both theory and practice as a modern university
